I’m wheeling through Twitter yesterday and I see this.
Buddy, are you shittin’ me? How in the world did we let this happen? At some point, some nerd got to the point where he or she can make rules like this and it is collectively all of our faults for allowing this. Big hits, big goals, big moments, are always surrounded by banging on the boards, it’s the ying to its yang. I’m sure parents are happy that their children won’t be breaking their $300 sticks as easily but when will this stop? Will USA hockey ban chirping? Will they not allow you to say anything to the opponent that will get them off their game? If you ban board banging how is myself telling a team full of swamp donkeys that they’re about to be tea bagged any better? What a crazy, crazy world we live in.
Crazy. Sad. All about the kids…all about safety…Bull. all about the money and the refs that are terrible.

I hate this for big hits, but I absolutely love it as a coach for when kids smack their sticks or the boards when another team gets a penalty. Nothing makes You look more like an idiot when your smacking ur stick at a kid getting a penalty.

Say it isn’t so. This can’t be true! Part of the sport of hockey. What a bunch of losers made such a decision?

This is NOT a new rule. All they did was clarify the language. Rule 601(b) is on the books currently for board banging with USA Hockey. https://www.usahockeyrulebook.com/page/show/1084645-rule-601-abuse-of-officials-and-other-misconduct
