The Gr8 Chase Continues, But Could Be On Hold!

The red hot Washington Capitals stayed buzzin Monday night in Mormon country against the Utah no names with a final score of 6-2.

Even though the Caps lit up the stat sheet tonight Utah got on the board first with a goal from McBain who out muscled van Riemsdyk to knocked it past Lindgren who struggle to coral the puck 1-0 Utah.

A couple minuets after the Capitals tied the game back up. Off a lazy I don’t know how back hand pass to god knows where by Utah went right to a crashing Strome who guided his way through the Utah defense and right as it looked like he was going for a wrap around he threw it off the Utah goalie’s left skate and in 1-1.

Then maybe not even 20 seconds later the boys got back on the board where Brandon Duhaime fed Nic Dowd at the last second to beat the Utah tendy 2-1 Caps.

Then a few minutes went by before the Caps went on the powerplay and when the Ovi show started where he left off last game. After a lazy turnover by Utah to Pierre-Luc Dubois found a wide open Ovi at the top of the left circle who then rifled a wrister into the back of the net 3-1 Caps.

Goal 867 was also goal 178 and tied Jagr’s record for most different goaltenders scored on, Connor Ingram was the most recent victim added to the list!

With a couple minutes going by in the 2nd the Caps were on a two man advantage. Where Ovi from his office got his second of the night and 5 goals in his last 5 periods, 4-1 Caps.

Goal 868 was his 4th multi-goal game of the season and 177th of his career. Ovi is the first player in NHL history with 100 multi-goal games on the road. He is now 27 behind the Great One.

Also, Ovi leads the NHL in goals at the age of 39 no big deal.

Nick Bjugstad got the team with no name back within 3 goals off a rebound shot that went over the top of Lindgren’s head and was knocked in 4-2 Caps.

Then this is where we held our breathe as Ovi took an unintentional knee to knee and went down and stayed down, but ended up skated off with a limp.

I can’t seem the to find the video on twitter, but he did try and skate and test it out and was able to skate and turn, but you could tell he was still feeling it. I’m no leg doctor but it didn’t look to serious for our Captain. He has only missed 59 total games in his career and 35 due to injury which is CRAZY! I am hearing MCL sprain from some of the Caps reporters on twitter, but obviously nothing 100% yet. (UPDATE Below)

Don’t worry we showed our guys have our Captain’s back with Wilson feeding McBain some fists.

Brandon Duhaime was the next to score off a nifty roof job to make it 5-2 Caps. This was his 4th of the season and with a goal and apple he has registered his first multi-point game as a Capital.

Aliaksei Protas on a semi 1-1 rush with a nice little wrister to beat the backup goalie glove side.

Caps have scored 6 or more goals in 6 of their first 18 games this season. For reference they only scored 6 goals in 5 of their 82 games last season.

Even with the score ended 6-2 in our favor, the boys still had back to back too many-man penalties just inexcusable for a team that isn’t in a beer league.

The boys went undefeated on the roadie out scoring their opponents 16-6 and are now 13-4-1 and sit in 1st place in the Metro.

The boys have a well deserved day off today and are not back in action till they host Colorado on Thursday night.

Light a candle and pray for our Russian Machine so that he only misses a couple games.
