Hockey Gods are Blue, Schenn Stays in St. Louis

Who wants to be traded to Toronto? Even if I grew up a Maple Leafs fan I would not want to play there, the place is cursed. Brayden Schenn was not going to move his no trade clause and especially not for Toronto. Luke Schenn landed in Winnipeg and even though that’s everybody’s favorite vacation spot, this would have been a more likely destination for Brayden. The St. Louis Blues have been the hottest team since the Four Nations Face-Off. Why would you trade anybody, let alone your captain!? Once Parayko went down I thought maybe shopping for a dman would be the move but you don’t want to disrupt what they got going. The wildcard is a very likely spot for the Blues to land come post season. We’ve seen trades happen in the past where the chemistry goes down hill post trade deadline. You gotta give up something to get something and Doug Armstrong wasn’t willing to move anybody. I think this was the best case scenario by the Blues staying nil.

Meanwhile, Mikko Rantanen is back in the Central division. Originally, I thought Colorado won that trade only because I felt Necas is a better fit for the Avs than Rantanen with the Canes. After being traded to Dallas and then signing eight years, Colorado definitely lost that trade. Winnipeg is winning the Central and maybe even taking the President’s Trophy. The other two playoff spots will be Colorado and Dallas. If the Blues can keep playing how they’ve been playing they will be a wildcard team.
