Pavelski Leads Stars to 2-0 Start

The Dallas Stars took the ice on Sunday night in game two of their journey for the 56-0 season everyone expects them to have after tossing up a touchdown on opening night. The Nashville Predators made it interesting as they finally plugged a puck past phenom goalie Anton Khudobin in the 2nd period, but the story of the night. Joe Pavelski.

Pavelski’s short side power play goal in the 2nd period came from what looked like an impossible angle. That would cap his three point evening as he also added two assists. That makes a total of seven points for Captain America in the very young 2021 NHL season. Fantasy hockey owners of Pavelski are giddy. (No, I am not one of them. Yet.)

Stars captain Jamie Benn missed game two with a lower-body injury along with Finnish wunderkind Joel Kiviranta. It was the first Stars game without either Benn or Tyler Seguin since the year 2013. Luckily the Stars didn’t miss a beat being led by the leadership of the seven point man Pavelski. Roope Hintz and Denis Gurianov both tallied goals in the Sunday night win.

It is only two games, but it’s hard not to be excited at how well this team is firing on all cylinders. Khudobin looked unfazed after allowing his first goals of the season, making stunning pad saves in the 3rd period to save the win for the home team. The power play is at 75%. Yes. It’s that good right now. The Stars look comfortable even with new names and new lines taking the ice.

The Stars welcome in the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night at the American Airlines Center at 7:30 PM CST.
