On Sunday night, the Florida Panthers handed the Hurricanes their first loss. However, the team should be proud of themselves, as they broke a franchise record for most wins at the start of the season with nine.
Andersen was the named the starter but it just was not his night. The start of the second period saw the Hurricanes down 4-0. Raanta came in as a relief for Andersen. Unfortunately, Raanta wasn’t in very long as he was coming out of the crease to play the puck, and a Florida Panther was going after the puck, at the last second saw Raanta and ran right into him. As of now, there is no word on Raanta’s status. Andersen redeemed himself but it wasn’t enough for a Canes win. If we learned anything from the David Ayres game, it is DO NOT play the puck if it is way out of the crease!
Personally, if the Hurricanes had to lose, I’d rather it be a team with a record close to ours. The Hurricanes were without Pesce and Niederreiter. Hopefully they can be cleared to play soon. The next game is Tuesday at 7:00 PM Est, against Tamp Bay Lightning.
