They might not have blown a two goal lead, but the Canucks squander three separate one goal leads to fall to Minnesota in overtime. The Canucks went down 1-0 in the first before goals from Bo Horvat and Nils Aman gave them the lead. Sam Steel scored for the Wild to tie the game up at the end of the first. Dakota Joshua had the only goal in the second, which gave the Canucks their second lead of the game. A power play goal from Mats Zuccarello tied it up in the third and Kirill Kaprizov scored the game winning goal for the Wild just over three minutes into overtime. The Canucks struggled on special teams going 0 for 2 on the power play and allowing 1 power play goal on 3 Minnesota chances. The Canucks were outshot 27 to 26 and outhit 21 to 12 in the contest. With this loss, the Canucks have gone winless in their season opening five game road trip. It is a horrendous start for a team doing all it can to try and make a return to the postseason.
The Canucks will try to get their first win of the season Saturday night against the Sabres at the home opener.
