That is exactly how you start the NHL playoffs. I think we can all agree that we hope Joe Pavelski is going to be okay but I also think we can agree that was a MONSTER hit. When hits like this occur you always get polar opposite ends of the spectrum. On one hand, you have one side saying that was one of the dirtiest hits of all time and on the other hand you have people saying that was clean, clean, clean. So where does this really fall?

To be fair, the game moves so fast that hits often occur a split second late, but it’s only when they happen against the boards that they don’t get as much attention. ESPN was doing everyone a disservice by reviewing the hit in super slow-mo. Let’s use that technology to determine the point of contact, not to make judgments on the legality of the hit. It looks like the real impact occurred when Pavelski’s head hit the ice, which is unfortunate but not illegal.
I’ve said this once and I’ll say it again – If you’re on the ice you better know if Matt Dumba is out there with you.
The Wild ended up taking the game in OT, and they needed it. This series is going to be physical, showcase talent, and let’s not forget about the two goalies battling it out. Get ready for some intense playoff hockey! Wild in 6.
