Look it’s summer. It’s hot and muggy and the last thing you’ve probably been thinking about is hockey. Even if you’re some psycho who’s still following up on the news (hand up), now that Free Agent Frenzy has passed, I’m sure hockey has finally taken a back burner. And, just in case you haven’t been glued to your podcast provider of choice; you may have missed a recent addition to our playlist Howlin’ Huskies. That’s right, another one of these beauticians agreed to come on the pod to talk about her career, her journey to Northeastern and was patient/kind enough to sit through the ever-popular Lightning Round. Senior D and newly appointed Alternate Captain Abbey Marohn. You can find her episode here.

Now Abbey is also embarking on what may be a more arduous undertaking than any blue line drills she faces in practice. This year, Abbey is signed up to do a leg in the Pan-Mass Challenge. For those of you that are not familiar, the Pan-Mass is a bicycle ride that goes from Boston to the tip of the Cape: Provincetown. Riders can do up to 150 miles over the course of 2 days. This fund raising ride is unique in that all the money raised goes directly to the charity, which is to raise funds for cancer treatment and research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Every single person reading this, (or listening to the podcast) has been affected by cancer in some way or form so reach into those wallets and purses and give what you can for Abbey’s ride. She has set a goal of $6K and while that is lofty, if you’ve seen her shut down top lines on the ice you know there’s nothing she can’t do once she sets her mind to it. Click this link and mash the big red “DONATE” button and then search for MAROHN and you’ll see her on there. Give what you can, because honestly, every little bit makes a difference.

Ok, now that you’ve given Abbey some cabbage, it’s time to get caught up on all of the Huskies that have been gracious enough to come on the podcast (thanks Delaney for all your hard work and endless supply of patience!). You can find them all here at the Howlin’ Huskies playlist on our YouTube (so you can see my smiling face) or listen to them individually via your preferred podcast platform.

I’d be remiss to not give some love to Associate Head Coach Nick Carpenito. Regardless of the fact that he puts pineapple on his pizza, we still love him and thank him for all his efforts in enabling our shenanigans at Matthews and around Hockey East. We do appreciate you even if you’d lose every puck battle to all of your players. Keep an eye out for a Huskies preseason preview where we get Coach Carp on the pod with both myself and Ked.
Until then, please please please give what you can to Abbey’s ride (www.pmc.org) and we’ll see you at Matthews in the fall! #HowlinHuskies
