The NHL season is so close we can taste it, and with that comes teams releasing their promotions schedule for what games will have giveaways for fans in attendance.
The Capitals announced their giveaway schedule for the 23-24 season, and they might have the most creative one I’ve seen in recent memory.
This season Cap’s fans will be treated at the gate with schedule magnets, bucket hats, dog bowls, and t shirts just to name a few (list at the bottom).
But the one that tops them all has to be on January 11th when the Kraken stroll into town the Capitals are giving out Sonny Milano Chia Pets “Chia Milano”. If you are too young to know what that is, let me explain picture Sonny Milano bald and in the form of a potted plant. Well just add water and then slowly but surely Sonny’s beautiful afro mane will start to grow in plant form.
With the great season Sonny had last year it was only right to celebrate it in some way, it may not be a bobble head, but its something.
Chia Pets were huge in the 90s as this cool futuristic way to grow a plant in your house without it being in a boring pot.
Props to the Capital’s marketing team who is one of the best in the league always staying current or bringing back so throwbacks. Wouldn’t be surprised if we see a Capital’s Furbee or a Cap’s Beanie Baby next season.
