Capitals win a riveting 4-3 win over Buffalo in OT

I haven’t been able to watch any Capital’s games this season due to coaching high school football, but with our season ending last week in the playoffs boy did I pick a first game to watch!

I said this last year getting a guy like Dylan Strome for nothing was going to be huge the guy was drafted 3rd overall that is a guy with crazy talent but he hasn’t been in the right system till now. He found his mojo again last year and is continuing it this year.

I saw this stat and it shows how important Stromer is to this team. Strome has 75 points for the Caps since last season, he is 2nd on the team behind only Alex Ovechkin who has 85 points!

This 4-3 OT win was a beautiful way to start family time this Thanksgiving.

Strome’s OT winner doesn’t happen without the incredible tying goal with the goalie pulled. With 1:15 remaining in the game Strome found Tom Wilson on a nifty backhand dish to Willy who rocketed a snapshot past the Buffalo goalie to tie the game.

Then came overtime where it was a little back and forth chances from both teams then came Strome and Milano on a 2v1 rush where Strome waited enough to show pass before pulling the puck back and ripping a missile past Sabres goalie Levi to end it in D.C..

Also, what an incredible celly by Strome, things you just love to see! This was his team leading 8th goal of the season as well. It also was his first career overtime GWG, what a way to celebrate turkey day for the boy.

I wouldn’t be a hockey fan if I didn’t recognize a disgusting goal by Sabres’s rookie Zach Benson for his first ever NHL goal. Going between the legs for your first goal in the show is rockstar shit!

This wasn’t the only first career NHL goal tonight we had one of our own notch his first as well. Alex Alexeyev from the blue-line with a quick wrister gets his first.

Also, shoutout to Nick Jensen for playing in his 500th NHL game. He has been a key for us on defense when it has been one of our weaknesses as of recently.

I know it is early but this team is looking much better than last year “so far”. We have 4 lines that can make some noise when healthy. Also, the defense is keeping the team competitive and Carbery seems to have the guys believing in him and that is huge for a first year coach.

The Capitals are back in action on black Friday against the struggling dumpster fire that is the Oilers and McDavid.

Let me be first to tell you have a great and Happy Thanksgiving and have fun and be safe out there especially with in the in-laws.
