Monday night I was able to be in attendance to watch NHL history, but this history wasn’t in the name of Alec Ovechkin getting his 1500th NHL point. He now has no goals in 7 games. Instead it was the Arizona Coyotes completing the infinity gauntlet that was the last 5 Stanley Cup Champions. Pretty impressive stuff for the young guns that are the Coyotes.

The Caps were on the wrong end of lopsided shutout where they were just dominated almost the whole game. The only bright spot was the Caps had a ton of scoring chances in the first period but just couldn’t get past the scorching hot goalie that is Connor Ingram.
Even with those scoring chances the Capital’s defense was path tic to say the least giving up 5 goals in the first which caused Carbery to pull Kuemper who gave up 3 goals on 5 shots (yikes) for Lindgren.
People want to call for Kuemper’s head but the first couple goals came from some wildly skilled passing from the Coyotes or some bad deflections off our own guys.
Nicolas Aube-Kubel has been atrocious on the ice for the Caps and I think it’s time he gets sent to Hershey and Riley Sutter gets the call to help the 4th line I mean he can’t be worse than NAK has been for us.
The 6-0 loss was the 5th in 22 games that the Caps have been shutout this season.
During this 5 game road-trip the Caps have only scored 9 goals. Carbery was asked about the poor production from the offense and he said “There’s points where we control play and we do some good things in the offensive zone. We just really gotta get to work and work with our skill development and work with our individual players on creating separation and being able to make a play out of pressure. Even odd-man rush execution, tape to tape plays, little small area plays in tight areas. Like all that stuff, we just have to get to work as an organization on developing that and working with our players on that.”
By just looking at the score you would think there wasn’t much effort being put out by the boys but they did skate hard the whole night just from my perspective being in the “party barn”.
Say what you want this Yotes team is fun as hell to watch minus that Liam O’Brien loser, dude is the fakest tough guy in the league and gets his lunch handed to him every-time he tries to make a “big hit” he either falls over or the guy he hits doesn’t move.
Also I have looked everywhere and haven’t seen anything regarding why Kuzy was healthy scratched I saw a trade rumor with Buffalo on twitter but don’t hold me to that because who knows if that source was credible. I’m sure we could get something positive for him because he still can help out a good team if its the right situation aka has Russians on it.
The Capitals will return back to D.C. Tuesday to face the Dallas Stars on Thursday night in hopes to get back on track.
