Capitals blow multi-goal lead, Ovi gets 1500th point

The Caps were back in action Thursday night as they make their return to the nation’s capitals after a long road trip against a good Dallas team.

After a misplayed puck by the Stars goalie and a hustle play by Protas McMichael was able to give the Caps and early 1-0 lead.

Dallas was able to tie it up from a wide open Seguin one timer below the circle just a plain defensive lapse.

Then Stromer notched his 9th goal of the season and the 99th of his career from a beautiful wrister after a whiffed shot from Wilson to make it 2-1 Caps.

Then finally back in the lineup after being healthy scratched and playing in his 700th career game Evgeny Kuznetsov used a nifty little backhand forehand on the breakaway to extend the lead. I’m hoping he gets red hot and then we can trade him while his stock is high because this back and forth game we have been playing where he is elite then he is a traffic cone on the ice it has become exhausting.

Kuzy is also the second Capital this season to score in their 700th game. Wilson did it on 11/30/23 vs the Ducks.

Charlie Lindgren played great again in between the pipes but it wasn’t enough in the end but he did make one of the saves of the year already. My goodness this was highway robbery. (Also that dumbass Wild fans reaction was great he must have thought the Wild played after the Caps game was over in D.C.)

The Caps took the lead on the powerplay in the 3rd on the rush from Ovi to Mantha to Strome who netted his 3rd multi goal game of the season, but wasn’t enough because Dallas tied it late to bring the game to overtime. Strome’s goal was his 100th of his career.

The Caps didn’t make any noise in OT and then lost in the shootout. A points a point but man it sucks to only get one point in a game where you have a multi-goal lead. The Caps struggles continued in 5v5 hockey, they just can’t seem to have success in that department lately. Thank god for Dylan Strome because without him right now this team might reach dumpster fire levels.

After being inside the barn for the Coyotes game the boy played a lot better than that disaster (staying optimistic) especially against a Cup contending team like the Stars.

On the goal Alex Ovechkin reached another career milestone on the Strome goal by registering his 1,500th point in the NHL. Ovi became the 5th player in NHl history to record 1,500 points joining Steve Yzerman, Mario Lemieux, Joe Sakic, and Sidney Crobsy (ever heard of’em”.

The Capitals are back at it against the Rangers and that rat Trubum Saturday.
