Mika Zibanejad is Back and The Rangers Beat The Sabres

Tis the season Rangers fans! On a night where the Rangers blew a couple of leads, they hunkered down and persevered as they took down the baby buffalos in overtime.

  • Don’t look now but Mika Zibanejad is on fire.

It took 93 a bit to get going but this is kind of his thing isn’t it? Since joining the Rangers, Mika has played 517 games over the last 8 years while putting up 216 goals and 269 assists for 485 points.

Unreal.

  • Who else loves Will Cuylle? Every single game this kid competes, inflicts pain on opposing defenseman and isn’t afraid to stick up for himself when needed.

Every time Laviolette is asked about the rookie he has nothing but great things to say. His teammates love what he brings to the table. He looks like he’ll be a pain in the ass to play against in a 7 game series and is definitely someone to keep an eye on as the Rangers continue a very impressive 2023-24 campaign.

  • There is no goalie controversy going on in New York – Igor is the guy. Quick has played unbelievable this year, that is without question, but the crease belongs to 31.

Has he played to his usual standards? I’d think we’d all be kidding ourselves if we said yes but he seems to be finding his game and will only continue to get better as his confidence continues to grow.

  • If you’ve followed The Morning Skate or any of my Rangers blogs you would know that Ryan Lindgren is my favorite player on the team. I’ve always found myself rooting for the ‘heart and soul’ type player and the Steven McDonald extra effort award winner competes his bag off night in and night out. It was nice to see him pot a goal tonight and leave the Garden ice in one piece and without bleeding. He seems to have good nights against Buffalo, am I right?
  • The least shocking news I heard today was that Jeff Skinner whines to the refs night in and night out. He always seems to score against the Rangers but tonight they shut him down. He’s got to be one of the more insufferable players in the league, no?
  • One last thing – has anyone see this before?

This made me laugh out loud. Rangers fans are crazy but they are our kind of crazy.

Everyone have a great Christmas and enjoy your time with family and friends.

We’ll see you again on the 27th as the Rangers take on Washington in a Metro showdown.
