The Rangers Slap The Capitals Around and Trouba is Okay

Another day, another Rangers victory. This team is so good.

  • Trouba left the game in the second period after taking a shot from Tom Wilson.

Luckily for the Rangers, Trouba practiced today and gave us an update on what had happened and how he was feeling.

Rangers dodged a bullet on this one. Trouba is such an important part of this team and the fact that the Rangers won’t miss their captain for a substantial amount of time is a late Christmas gift we all loved receiving.

  • K’Andre Miller has been pretty hard on himself this season.

The fact is Miller gets it. He wants to be better, he recognizes he can be better and he’s going to do what he can to be better. He is big, can skate, and has all the tools to be a game breaker in this league. Will he be like Fox and put up an insane amount of points? Probably not. However, Miller can be a one man breakout and because of his size and IQ, his stick can shut down half the ice whenever he is out there. When Miller plays a simple game and keeps players to the outside – he is an incredibly effective hockey player. By using his stick to funnel players into certain areas and shutting down different lanes in the middle of the ice, Miller can be one of the most frustrating players in the league to play against. He is everything Rangers fans thought Marc Staal was.

It was nice to see 79 pot a couple of big goals. Let’s see what Miller can do when he is playing with confidence. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that he can develop and edge one of these days.

  • This was the first game the Rangers have played against the Capitals in which I wasn’t afraid of Ovechkin being on the ice. I don’t know if he is hurt or if father time has finally caught up to him but he looks washed. Will he break Gretzkys record? It doesn’t look great.
  • Artemi Panarin has the quiestest 19 goals in the league.

What a release. He is such a special player and we are so lucky we get to watch 10 dance on Garden ice every night.

  • Igor is so back. Wild Bill wrote a blog detailing this a little better but holy shit the Rangers goaltending has been unreal this year. I wonder how Georgiev is doing.

El. Oh. El.

  • After last nights win, the Rangers have the most wins through the first 33 games in franchise history. Let that sink in for a second.

They did this without Chytil and Kaapo, while battling through an Adam Fox injury, an Igor injury and practically a Zibanejadless lineup through a majority of the year. Is this team special? Fuck, they very well might be.
