Larry Brooks – Filip Chytil is returning to his home in Czechia for an indeterminate period in the next step of his recovery from the suspected concussion he sustained on Nov. 2, The Post has learned.
Industry sources have framed the decision reached in conjunction by the 24-year-old center and the Rangers organization as a “reset,” in which Chytil will continue skating on his own under the supervision of the trainer and skills coach with whom he works in the offseason.
Sources have told the Post that Chytil — who is believed to have sustained four concussions throughout his six-year NHL career in which he has been sidelined for injury 10 different times

When it rains it pours.
Last March Chytil signed a four year contract extension with the Rangers. Coming into camp Chytil was slotted into the second line center role following an impressive 2022-2023 season. He was to play in the middle with Artemi Panarin and Alexis Lafreniere, a line that we have all been waiting for. In his first 9 games he had 6 assists and Panarin was playing out of his mind – and then this collision happened.
4 concussions in 6 NHL seasons is not what you want to see not just as a Rangers fan hoping to win a cup but also as someone who has an ounce of empathy. Brain injuries are incredibly scary and there’s no real way to see how someone can bounce back from something like this. At what point does it become a quality of life type of situation? We can only hope that Chytil can recover and get back to 100% but the future is unclear for the 24 year old center.
