Like I said earlier in the season when Ovi gets hot he goes super saiyan and the goals come in bunches.
Alex now has 5 goals in his last 5 games since coming back from Dubai. This is Ovechkin’s first 5 game goal streak since March 11-19, 2021.
He also has recorded 16 points in his last 15 games coming from 7 goals and 9 assists.
Ovechkin now has 13 goals on the season and 835 career goals which now makes him 60 goals away from passing Wayne Gretzky for the most all time.
As a person that bet Ovi to score over 40 goals this season well lets just say I might need a miracle to cash that bet, but with Ovi it isn’t over till the fat lady sings, so fingers crossed.
Ovi is also encroaching on another NHL record and that is longest goal streaks of a player 38 or older which he currently sits at 5 goals in a row with a goal.
Also, on Saturday during the Capitals 3-0 win over Boston passed Gretzky for most empty net goals in NHL history. Ovi sealed the deal in Boston Saturday night by notching his 57th career empty net goal to take the sole lead and the crown for most goals with the goalie on the bench.
The boys had a great win over Boston Saturday but couldn’t squeak out the W against the sneaky good Vancouver Canucks who are in 1st place in the Pacific Division and have a league leading 76 points, holy shit why isn’t anyone talking about them!
Caps are back in action tomorrow against the Avalanche.
