Prime’s Faceoff: Inside The NHL is incredible and if you haven’t watched it you have a big dump in your pants.

Unless you are living under a rock as a hockey fan, yesterday Prime finally dropped their new series Faceoff: Inside the NHL. 6 episodes of behind the scenes footage like we’ve never seen from some of the biggest superstars on the planet, from mid season all the way until the locker rooms after last year’s Game 7 in the Stanley Cup Final.

Is it a complete total copy + paste from Netflix’s “Quarterback” and “Receiver” shows? Absolutely.

Do I give a fuck since this is the closest thing we’ve ever gotten to hockey porn I’ve ever seen?

This show is so incredibly well done and is the perfect watch to kick off NHL season (especially since the NHL apparently had someone with dyslexia make this year’s schedule with some teams starting yesterday and some starting as late as Wednesday).

The show follows a format where each episode follows a theme such as a rivalry episode, one that focuses players playing through ridiculous injuries that would have me asking for my mommy, captains, then finished off with two episodes focusing on the Cup Runs of the Panthers and Oilers last season.

You get to see Pastrnak and Willy Nylander going to dinner together before Boston pee pee whacked them again in the playoffs, Forsberg and Eichel playing through injuries, the Tkachuk family (including some hilarious Matty and Big Walt footage), the off-ice aspects of being the captain, and more.

But personally as a hockey fan, the best part of this show is getting to see a side of Connor McDavid that we’ve just never seen before. Connor has always been labeled as kind of quiet, boring, a robot, etc. This show makes you view him in an entirely different way, see below.

Personally I never dogged Connor for not being a flashy guy off the ice or anything, if he wants to just live his life making us feel like he’s a god among mortal humans by scoring goals like this and drag his team to deep playoff runs every year then let’s let him be and just enjoy greatness.

But this show gave us what we haven’t seen before, which is showing us not only is Mcdavid the best player on planet earth but why he’s the captain of the Oilers.

This show has some funny moments, shows a ton of stuff that we just haven’t gotten to see before, and executes showcasing these superstars lives at an elite level.

If Prime doesn’t do this show every single year going forward then I can only assume that Jeff Bezos and company just hate making money, which I don’t believe is the case for that alien.

If you are even somewhat into hockey this show is an absolute must watch to kick off hockey season, so go ahead and flip it on instead of your shitty reality TV. Buy Prime for a week if you have to. As a hockey fan, I need new shorts after watching it personally.
