Your boys in red got their 1st win of the 24/25 season against the Vegas Golden Knights last night 4-2.
We got to see the resurgence of a familiar face who has been through a lot since his departure post Stanley Cup Championship and that is Jakub Vrana.
Vrana on his first shot attempt of the season he beat the Vegas goaltender to give the boys a 1-0 lead. With a nice backhand dish via Andrew Mangiapane Vrana finished the one timer. This was Vrana’s first game with the Caps since April 11th 2021. It truly is great to see Vrana happy again, I hope being back in D.C. keeps his mentals strong and he doesn’t have to go through the player assistance program again.
The Knights answered back in the remaining minutes of the 1st on the powerplay off a nice feed out front to a one timer by which caught Thompson out of position to tie the game at one a piece.
Entering the 2nd period the boys got some help and headed to the power-play where an almost identical goal from game one Strome behind the net fed a wide open Tom Wilson who smacked home the go-ahead goal to make it 2-1 Caps. That’s two goals in back to back games for Willy.
Then we got onboard again from a beautiful pass from Ovechkin on a stop and spin to a crashing Protas who to make it 3-1 Caps on a defensive lapse from Vegas. The assist by Ovi notched his 700 apple of this career which makes him the 6th player in NHL history to have 700 goals and 700 assists!

The fellas weren’t done yet they get their 3rd goal in a 3 minutes and 7 seconds! Then we got a new face making his Capital’s scoring debut via Jakub Chychrun from a puck juggling savant Nic Dowd who passed the puck to the wide open crashing Chychrun who smacked it out of the air to beat the Vegas goalie Hill making it 4-1 Caps.
The Knights got back on the board in the 2nd from a great offensive rush that had the Caps in panic mode which allowed some fantastic passing which left a wide open Jack Eichel to beat LT for the last goal of the game 4-2 in favor of the Caps.
Logan Thompson who caused some commotion via social media from the triggered fans saying that his pads looked like a confederate flag, for the love of God grow up! If you look at these and the first thing you think of is that then you might need to change your diaper because there is a huge dump in it!

Aside from that nonsense, LT played great against his old team and shut them out in a big 3rd period which had the Caps on their heels at some moments.
Hendrix Lapierre struggled again and didn’t see the ice till the 8th minute of the 3rd this could have been a little hangover from last game’s struggles so lets hope he can turn it around otherwise we need to find someone who can fill that 3rd center spot.
Overall though great win lets keep it going Thursday against Dallas!
