The Capitals have locked down their new but young defensmen to a long-term contract extention for 8 years, $72 milly on Tuesday morning. Jakob was going to be an unrestricted free agent this summer, but no longer is an issue.
This contract will have an average annual value of $9 million.
This extension will last through the 2032-33 season. This makes him the only player in the organization to stay that long and is two year longer than Wilson, Logan Thompson, and Pierre-Luc Dubois.
This resigning was a no brainer the 26yr old Chychrun is having one of the best seasons of his career consisting of 43 points, 18 goals, and 25 apples in 65 games. He is 3rd in goals scored by a d-man just behind Cale Makar with 26 and Zach Werenski with 20, pretty damn good company if you ask me.

He can finally afford lightbulbs for is stinking house now lol.
