Capitals Take Game 2

The boys took a nice 2-0 series lead as we head to north of the border in Montreal.

After a scoreless back and forth first period the Canadiens took the 1-0 lead early in the 2nd period. After a cluster out in front of Logan Thompson Christian Dvorak was able to find the puck and sneak it past LT for their lone goal of the game.

Not to long after the Capitals answer back via Connor McMichael who took his own rebound shot and back handed it towards the front of the goal crease and was able to find a Hab’s skate and get to the back of the net, 1-1 ballgame.

Then as the McMichael goal is being announced over the speakers the boys got on the board again. After some nice tic tac toe passing Dylan Strome found his own rebound shot and back handed it in for the 2-1 lead.

McMichael and Strome’s goal marks the 22nd time in the team’s history that they have scored twice within a minute of each other in the playoffs.

The boys didn’t stop the hit party that happened in game 1. They continued to dominate the physical game once again in game 2.

Then in the remaining seconds of the 3rd after a frantic back and forth with the Habs goal empty the Caps were able to clear the puck and McMichael sealed the game for his second goal of the game fitting it was in the McNugget minute.

After getting the news that Martin Fehervary is out for the playoffs, Alex Alexeyev the toothless wonder has really played well in his time so far.

Logan Thompson played a lot better tonight after knocking the rust off from game 1. He won us the game in the third with some stellar saves.

As the saying goes the series doesn’t start till a team wins a road game, so lets get the dub in Canada on Friday. Maybe we see Protas in game 3 but if he isn’t full go I’d say give him one more game to heal cause the boys are playing solid in his absence.
