Outworked & Outhustled Game 4 Loss

That the was name of the game Monday night in Raleigh for Game 4. The Carolina Hurricanes just wanted it more tonight in all facets of the game which led to their 5-2 win.

After what felt like a penalty kill halfway through the 1st period Shayne Gostisbehere had the puck at the point and danced the puck around till he flung the puck on net which was well screened to beat LT for the 1-0 lead.

Then early in the 2nd Aho threw the puck on net and was deflected by LT hit the top of the post then fell right to a waiting Jarvis to make a 2-0 game.

Meanwhile we had hardly any puck control to get any chances aside from a couple good looks from Anthony Beauvillier but was shut down but the Canes tormenting defense. Also Connor McMichael had a great chance in the first minute and Protas hit the post shortly after. Those are the type of chances the boys have to finish if we want to stay in these playoffs.

Then we head to the third where the Caps have been getting out shot all night. The boys finally showed some life where Roy was able to find a wide open crashing Jakob Chychrun for the Capitals first goal of the game to make it a 2-1 game in favor of the bad guys.

Then not to long after Taylor Hall got the Caps sleeping as he slowly skated back on defense saw his team had control of the puck and waited at the opposite blue line for the easy breakaway goal to give the Canes a two goal lead, 4-2.

The Caps were able to find themselves on a 5v3 powerplay chance where Strome found Ovi at his office to make it a one goal game, 3-2 game. Ovechkin has now passed Nicklas Lidstrom and Joe Pavelski for 5th most playoff power play goals in NHL history.

Then with 3ish minutes left in the game the Canes had a 3v1 chance where Sean Walker beats LT for the two goal for Carolina after Sandin’s stick got stuck in the boards, 4-2 Canes.

Then with the net empty Svechnikov sealed the deal with the goal.

The Hurricanes just wanted it more tonight and it showed. Especially when the Caps had a 4 minute powerplay to end the 1st period and got ZERO shots on goal and the Canes even got a 2v1 chance in that same powerplay just inexcusable.

The Capitals are now down 3-1 in the series and are facing elimination heading back to D.C., but there haven’t been a lack of opportunities this series but when we have chances and can’t score the Hurricanes have those same ones and they finish the job and then some.

Thursday night is obviously a must win or else we are headed to Cabo or an early tee time. It isn’t over till the fat lady sings!

  1. Even though this loss stings, the determination and grit were clear. It’s like switching to artificial hockey turf—reliable, steadfast under pressure, and built to endure. When the Caps double down, they can bounce back stronger
