After a stellar performance by Lindgren last game it was time for Logan Thompson to show why Washington has the best goalie tandem in the league on Tuesday night in DC.
Tampa got on the board first via Jake Guentzel who beat LT off a pass from the point that I have no idea how it found Jake’s stick, 1-0 bad guys.
After some back and forth in the 2nd period with just around 2 minutes left Connor Mick used a sneaky silky pass to Aliaksei Protas which completely fooled Vasilevskiy who thought Connor was going for the wrap around which left the right side of the net wide open for Pro.
This was Pro’s 3rd goal of the season and he leads the Caps team with 5 points on the season. Big season incoming for Pro!
After a penalty Tampa went on the powerplay where Lightening struck again via a Hedman shot on net that was deflected past LT by Brayden Point.
I must have spoke it into existence by telling how bad our power play has been in my last blog. The Caps got a goal on the power play to tied the game off a shot from the top of the circles by Dylan Strome which was tipped in beautifully by Tom Wilson, 2-2 ballgame.
Wilson is now tied with Dale Hunter and Michal Pivonka for the 12th most goals in franchise history. Not to shabby for a guy that people say he is only a goon on the ice.
In overtime the Capitals controlled the puck Tom Wilson wheeled behind the net then rifled a pass to a crashing back door Jakob Chychrun who clapped home the OT winner. (Cue Bandz a Make Her Dance)
This was also Tom Wilson’s 400th point. Out of the 2012 NHL Draft he is the 6th member to reach this milestone. He also ranks 3rd in goals within that same class.
Caps win 3-2!
Alex Ovechkin seems to always start the season slow these last couple seasons cause lets be honest his off season program doesn’t consist of living in the iron paradise or bag skating everyday anymore. He is enjoying his time which is much deserved. He usually skates himself into shape but month 2 of the season. Ovi will get his goals I am not worried.
The Capitals will be back in action on Friday against the Wild, lets get another two point win!.
