The Washington Capitals hosted the New York Rangers for the last game of 2025.
The Caps got on the board first via a no look Ryan Leonard pass to Anthony Beauvillier for the wide open one timer.
This was Beau’s 8th goal of the season and now has two goals in his last 3.
In the remaining seconds of the 1st the Rangers tied it up off a point shot that was deflected in by friend of the Pod Vincent Trocheck.
Then in the 2nd Olympia Tom Wilson got on the board who was left wide open in front of the net like you would see in a beer league game. 2-1 Caps.
This was Willy’s 20th goal of the season and is the fastest he has reached this mark in his career (not bad for a “Goon”).
Later in the 2nd Justin Sourdif tallied his first career power play goal from a feed via Ovechkin that deflected off some toes to his stick. 3-1 Caps.
The Rangers get one back via the lethal clapper from Fox to make it a 3-2 game.
Then halfway through the 3rd Protas nets one off the deflection from the shot by Sandin. 4-2 Caps.
Shortly after Tommy Wilson ripped one top cheese via the behind the net pass from McMichael. 5-2 Caps. This marks 200 goals for future Captain Tom Wilson, he is the 6th player in franchise history to reach this milestone.
Braden Schneider beat Lindgren in the final minutes for the Rangers 3rd goal of the game.
With the net empty Sourds gets his multi-goal game goal 6-3 Caps Ball Game!
As previously mentioned Wilson got the Gordie Howe hatty and typical Wilson fashion made easy work of Carrick.
Charlie Lindgren was just okay today nothing stellar but did enough to get us the win.
This was the Caps first regulation win in 13 days which accounted for 6 games. It was good to see Wilson back fully healthy you could tell his first game back he was a little sluggish.
Tom Wilson and Logan Thompson were announced to Team Canada for the upcoming Olympics.
