First off, Happy Thanksgiving week everyone! In the NHL, one of the most important times of the year is when all the experts like to chime in on the playoffs. Thanksgiving is usually the point in which a team solidifies themselves as a playoff contender or that has dug themselves too big of a hole. However, here at The Morning Skate we use Thanksgiving to recognize how grateful we are for the best part about hockey- Penalty minutes. Some people fantasize about goals, assists, or wins. Yeah, whatever get stuffed in a locker. What do we love? We love PIMS. We love rock and sock ’em hockey, we love gritty performances, and we love the player on his or her team that we like to call the sheriff. The sheriff is the one player on a team that you DO NOT MESS WITH. Most people think women’s hockey isn’t a game of physicality because the lack of body checking but not here, not in the ACHA. In 17 games played, Isabelle Uhl Chmiel leads the ENTIRE ACHA in PIMS and that is something I can rally behind.

Check out these stats. Career wise, Isabelle has collected 204 penalty minutes. To put that in perspective, she’s spent the same amount of time in the box as you would watching The Titantic, and then some. She’s not just a goon though. While spending this much time in the sin bin, she’s also a point per game player who has been highlighted as Midland University’s warrior of the week.
So this weeks ACHA Beauty of The Week goes to ‘Ring her bell Isabelle’. Ladies, keep your head up.

Be sure to check out our boys over at @pch_apparel who are hooking it up with the T’s this year! We’re going to be shipping them out to all our winners soon! And if you haven’t, make sure you follow us on Twitter and Instagram @morning_skate.
