A couple months ago our boy Matthew Roach reached out to Hal and I and asked if we would participate in a benefit game for Type 1 Diabetes at the Glens Falls Civic Center and you should know by now what we said.
In August of 2014 Matthew and his son Logan formed an organization, Hockey Fights T1D, and started planning a benefit event that included an ice hockey game with raffles. Local hockey players made a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF) to play in the game and friends and family gathered in support. Items were donated from local businesses and were raffled off to raise additional funds. Fast forward to Saturday and the game will be played in Glens Falls. For this event they have teamed up with the Jake’s Heroes, the Saratoga County Law Enforcement Hockey team, and the Adirondack Thunder to help them take it to the next level.
Later on that night the Adirondack Thunder have a game and will be wearing a specialty warm up jersey featuring the logos of Jake’s Heroes and Hockey Fights T1D. After warm ups they will be autographed by the players and then brought to the concourse to be auctioned by us during the first and second periods via silent bid. There will also be information and Hockey Fights T1D merchandise for sale so please stop by during one of the intermissions. They will also have 50/50 tickets and Chuck a puck for sale.
This is going to be a fantastic time so if you’re in the area be sure to stop by. If you’d like to donate to the cause, click here and help out!
