After a statement 5-2 win last night against the Winnipeg Jets, it is even more clear that the Lightning are really really good. They don’t seem to have many weaknesses. Goaltending is certainly not one of them. All season long their duo in net have been absolutely solid. But it wasn’t until today that realized how good Vasilevskiy and Domingue were. The NHL posted a tweet yesterday that for the first time in NHL history two goalies from the same team have posted a 10 game win streak in the same season. That is absurd. At this point you can’t even say that they are a product of the guys in front of them, because to be able put up a 10 game win streak in the NHL, you have to be on point. The link to the tweet in below…
Here are their stats so far this season.
Vasilevskiy: 42 GS, 31-7, 2.24, .931
Domingue: 24 GS, 19-5, 2.91, .908
If the goaltending stats or the fact that they’ve only lost 12 games all season didn’t move it for you, Mr. Kucherov just tied Vinny Lecavalier for the franchise single season point record with his 33 goals and 77 assists….there are still 15 games left to play….smh.
Good luck to everyone playing this team in the playoffs. In fact, the Lightning have one thing going against them and that is that the Rangers get their first round pick if they win the cup. I truly think that pick is the difference maker in the Bolts winning the Stanley Cup. That and they have too many ex-Rangers.
