At the beginning of the year Hal and I talked about Robin Lehner moving on to the Islanders and Carter Hutton coming in to be Buffalos guy. I thought that Buffalo had finally made a good move, finally had gotten a number one goalie, finally could leave behind the history of mediocre goaltending and finally become a respectable NHL franchise.

We had made a bet about the number of wins Carter Hutton would get and he did not come through when I needed him to.

Fucking awful. In my defense, a roster having Jack Eichel and Rasmus Dahlin looked pretty damn good and 20 wins is something quality NHL goaltenders get in their sleep. Well, not my guy. I once called him the peoples goalie and for that I’d like to say, I’m sorry people. You deserved better. While Carter was busy breaking hearts, Robin Lehner went on to have a fell of a year.

Yup, and he made the playoffs.
As nice as it is to see the goalie with the neck tattoo truly thrive and become quite the presence in the media, this season has been a fickle bitch. Hal was right, I was wrong.
