Yesterday the news came out that 25 year old Edmonton Oilers center, Colby Cave, suffered brain bleeding and was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. The Oilers posted on Twitter that doctors removed a colloid cyst, which was causing pressure on his brain. Doctors had to put him into a medically induced coma in order to proceed forward with emergency surgery.
Our hearts go out to his wife, Emily Cave, family, and friends. Emily took to Instagram to give fans some updates. She posted that “doctors are fighting to keep him alive” in surgery and she asked everyone to “Please pray for my husband and best friend.” The posts are heart breaking as Colby battles this freak medical occurance. There are no current updates as I read this and I am hoping that no news is good news at this point. It does appear that this is not related to COVID-19. Colby had a successful surgery. Now it’s just a waiting game to make sure he remains stable.
I know everyone at the Morning Skate are keeping Colby in our thoughts and prayers. Hockey players are toughest people out there and hopefully he can make a full healthy recovery from all of this. You got this Colby. Keep fighting!
