That Escalated Quickly…

Game 7 got here fast, but the Isles have a tremendous opportunity to salvage my 2020 tonight.

The Islanders will play in Game 7 tonight against the Flyers. As many hockey fans know, the Isles haven’t been past the 2nd round since 1993. As many fans know, the Isles were up 3-1 in this series. Obviously it is now tied 3-3.

For Islanders fans under 40, it’s easy to slip in the “here we go again” mindset. So many brutal seasons. Mike Milbury. We didn’t deserve this.

But on the bright side, we didn’t deserve this.

This time last year, if you were an Isles fan offered a Game 7 in the second round would’ve said “yes please.” You would’ve thanked the fickle hockey gods!

Thank you Sir May i have another

Second round, 2 years post-Tavares. With a tandem set of journeymen goalies, no name D, and the superstar still on his entry level contract, the Isles had no business making it this far.

The Isles through shift by shift effort have outplayed the Flyers in terms of possession and shots. The Flyers have countered with playoff magic: an elite young goaltender and perfect 3-0 OT record this series.

“Yes, the carpets do match the drapes. Yes, I will prove it.”

Look at Hart though. He looks like he was so hot in high school he would’ve not taken sports so seriously. This man for sure had girls calling his hair “auburn.”

Hart should look like Roy or Hasek or a foot if he’s gonna be an all-world tendy. He’s just so…silky.

This is the most confidence I’ve had in an Islanders team in my life. Josh Bailey is playing out of his skull. Devon Toews has wheels. The fourth line is doing its thing. This guy is a legend:

Mat Barzal or Aragorn?????

This guy is a legend:

Speaking of legends, I have a hat signed by Bob Nystrom.

I have a voodoo candle. It’s from Walmart. But it’s New Orleans Walmart.

I have called one Game 7 outcome: Bruins over Canucks in the 2011 Stanley Cup final. Here’s #2: Isles figure it out and salvage my 2020.
