Rangers Throttle The Islanders

If you were to take Thursdays game and have the exact opposite things happen, you would have been watching tonights game. The Rangers came out as a 5 man unit, spent the majority of the night attacking, defended from the inside out, and put every puck they had on the cage. Whatever Quinn told the boys the last couple of days definitely worked.

There’s been talk over the last month or so that Pavel Buchnevich was and had the best camp of his professional career. He looked great on the PK in game 1 and played very well again tonight. He’s finding the open ice, he’s using his frame and good lord look at this shot.

Safety off.

Lafrenière is only 19 years old but he’s so composed. He controls the pace of the game, isn’t afraid to shoot, and doesn’t back down from physicality. I put his jersey in the cart.

Kaapo! This can be huge for the kid. When pucks start going in, confidence starts soaring, and with swagger comes points. Couldn’t be happier for 24 and his line. Phil played a steady game and is it just me or does Chytil look like one of the fastest players in the league? Kid can FLY.

Trouba continued to play like a pain the ass. Love to see it.

Lindgren spent most of the night bleeding and pissing people off. I don’t have kids, but if I did, and they played defense, I’d want them to have the compete level of this guy- it’s off the charts. Fearless.

You got to stay with Georgiev until he loses. He was so positionally sound tonight and played with confidence. Ride that wave.

Brendan Smith is one of my favorite players and I’m not afraid to say it. He adds another dimension to this team, a little bite, a little snarl. He made a great pass to the Breadman, drew multiple penalties and was just sound all night. Happy for Smittybub.

I am so excited to be able to watch 93 and 10 play hockey all the time. Panarin is so good with this stick in terms of shutting down lanes, forcing turnovers— and so creative with the way he changes speed up the ice. ZIbanejad is a horse. Good luck to anyone who tries getting on the tracks when that trains coming through.

Good bounce back for the boys. Does everyone still want Quinn gone? When is Tony going to be back in the lineup? Let me know in the comments.
