Following a postponed game in Vegas the Blues get two wins in California after beating the Ducks. Scoring 15 goals in the last three games the Blues are buzzing. Finnish goaltender Ville Husso gets his first career NHL win and looked good too. Jakob Silfverberg spoils the shutout on the Ducks first shot of the game. Husso bounced back after the early goal stopping 25 out of 26. The Blues need Husso to maintain confidence and play with swagger in order to be successful. Jordan Binnington won’t win every game and he’s going to need some rest on the back to back nights.
The turning point of the game came in the second period when Husso denied Agozzino on a beautiful scoring opportunity. Moments later, Sammy Blais scores his first of the season to break the 1-1 tie and the Blues were able to add to that early in the third period. Game breaking save on one end leads to the game winning goal on the other end. This goal was huge for the Thomas, Blais, Hoffman line. Mike Hoffman is getting comfortable playing next to Robert Thomas and they will be lethal going forward as the two develop more chemistry.
The Blues head back to St. Louis on Tuesday to face the Coyotes. Fans will be allowed for the first time this season at Enterprise Center. 1,400 is the new capacity as this allows more than front line workers and family members. Florida, Arizona, and Dallas are the only other arenas that allow fans to attend games due to covid protocols.
