Okay by now everyone knows Tim Peel got banished from the NHL today for something that happened last night.
Hot mics man, can’t live with them can’t live without them. Now, hear me out. If everyone just wants the game called by the rule book, I am completely okay with that. My question for you would be, what happens when a ref makes a mistake? It’s not if, it is when. Refs are human beings, they’re not robots. Mistakes will be made, just like they have been made since the beginning of hockey. Under the logic of “the game should be called by the rulebook”, I’m assuming there will be an abundance of super pissed off fans when a ref makes a mistake. Instead of policing the game the way referees have throughout the course of time, your team will now be at a massive disadvantage and you will never regain what you have just lost. It’s a catch 22. Either you’re going to be pissed off a ref makes a mistake, or you’re going to be pissed off that a ref made a make up call. At the end of the day, you’re going to be pissed off because that’s Mother Nature and that’s 2021. People love to be pissed, it’s so in right now, it’s so chic. If you ask me, I think you leave the game the way it is now. If ain’t broke, don’t fix it. We all knew refs gave out make up calls but we weren’t pissed until we saw a video of a ref talking about it. No-one will ever be happy and this became an issue today even though this has happened for the past like 100 years. What a fucking world we live in.
