Flyers Ask Fans for New Goal Song, and There’s Only 1 Right Answer

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, apologies for my hiatus. A new job has kept my incredibly busy and often fried the brain. I will cover all of Chuck’s more recent moves like Yandle, Brassard, et al in my season preview, but we have another topic to cover today.

Today, the Flyers announced that they will finally have a new goal song in the 2021-22 campaign. This time, however, they’re letting the fans pick it. My genuine belief is that Voracek picked the songs, and with him gone, no one really wanted to. Anyway, after two seasons of Feel the Shake by Jetboy, it’s time to switch it up. And honestly? There’s only one right answer.

Can you guess it? Do you know where I’m going with this?

It is DOOP BABY! The Flyers used the Philly Union’s goal song with a Flyers twist in the 2011-12 season as well as the lockout season in 2013. It is the best Flyers goal song of at least the last decade by a country mile. Rewatch Danny Briere’s OT winner in Round 2 Game 1 against the Devils from 2012 and tell me it isn’t pure electricity.

You simply can’t. The most incredible atmosphere the Flyers had in years was with this song. If they bring back the song, and pair that with the new roster, I honestly can’t think of a scenario in which they don’t go 82-0 and win the Cup. I’m not speaking in hyperbole here, just facts.

I hope you all agree that this is the correct response. If you don’t, let us know what it should be. I’m genuinely curious to hear some other takes here.
