The Igor Shesterkin Show: Rangers Steal 2 Points in Toronto

  • It’s been long talked about that Igor was the next in line following Henrik. In his short career, he’s been good, right? I mean nothing to get me overly hot and bothered, but pretty decent. This year? Holy shit man, he’s living up to that hype. I’m sure he’s done it already in his career, but this game was the first game I saw him play where I truly 110% knew that he stole this game for the Blueshirts. It’s always fun to watch a hot goalie because of the confidence they show. The whole night Igor was at the top of his crease challenging the Leafs and they had absolutely no answers. As Igor goes, so will the Rangers.

  • This is the type of performance you need from your goaltender when 2 out of your top 6 aren’t in the lineup.
  • The Rangers were 13-41 on face-offs which leads me to ask, were they even trying? What in the fuck is going on there?
  • Did Chytil play last night or…?
  • It was awesome to see Panarin net the overtime winner. While he might not be up to peak Panarin performance thus far, 10 still has 3 points in 4 games and is still dynamic with the puck. There were multiple back checks resulting in stick lifts and a change of possession thanks to the Breadman along with other little nifty passes like the one he set up Zibby for in the slot for a scoring chance. I don’t know what’s going on with the passes to high danger areas but screw it- Panarins risk is always worth the reward.
  • So Zibanejad leads the team in points with 5 through 4 games. Sneeeeaky.
  • The shit Adam Fox can do is incredible. The subtle area passes, the poise and patience to wait an extra second to move the puck and the ability to defend? We are very lucky to have this guy on the squad for a long time.
  • Trouba and Miller give me anxiety.
  • Why was Kevin Rooney on the ice in overtime? Love Roons but you could put that on the list of things I never thought I’d see happen.
  • Ryan Reaves made his impact known last night and it wasn’t for dropping the mits. Reaves was able to get pucks deep and make the Leads defenseman pay the price. He has 17 hits throughout the first 4 games and doesn’t look to be slowing down.
  • I love Sammy Blais and I don’t care who knows it. He does everything with a purpose and reminds me of a bigger, slightly slower JT Miller.
  • You know who’s been pretty lights out so far? Patrik Nemeth. Have you heard his name often? The veteran Swede keeps it simple and seems to really be the ying to Nils yang.
  • The Rangers are off to play Nashville on Thursday and you better bet your ass I’ll be there. Will the Rangers be road warriors this year? Stay on the pedal.
  • 2 wins in a row? The boys are streaking.
