Dylan Larkin scores in overtime to complete the comeback against the Washington Capitals, 3-2 on Wednesday.

Detroit got a huge win against the Caps on the road. Near the halfway point of the second period, the Wings found themselves down 2-0 with Washington’s powerplay, including Alex Ovechkin absolutely buzzing. Then bit by bit, they came clawing back. Adam Erne walks up and scores on the feed from Flilp Hronek (2-1 WSH). Robby Fabbri with the rebound off the turnaround gun from Erne (shoutout George Blaha). Coming back on the road, earning the point taking the Caps into overtime, would’ve been victory enough but.. there was more.
Obligatory Alexander Ovechkin Section
What a legend! Ovechkin is 5th all time on the NHL Scoring List. The chase continues to pass Wayne Gretzky. One of the players that draws your eyes when he’s on the ice. Cliché Phrase: You will not stop him, only hope to contain and limit the damage. He did score in this game, on the powerplay. A play that had everyone yelling at the TV (everyone being me, but probably other people as well), “Watch Ovie in the circle… Don’t let him sneak up… Mo get over there…. and it’s in the back of the net.”
Ovechkin had to pass a few Wings on the Scoring Leaders list, and before he’s done, he will pass two more. It’s only a matter of when. He may catch/pass Brett Hall in the next couple games…
#2 Gordie Howe
#4 Brett Hall
#10 Steve Yzerman
#13 Luc Robitaille
#14 Brendan Shanahan
#19 Dino Ciccarelli
He’s a great player, what would be beyond generational? legendary? Any time I’ve seen an NHL team in a barn outside the state of Michigan, the team has played Washington. Another cliché phrase but a player I can tell… my nieces and nephews… I got to see in person.
Be the old man at the bar telling stories.. which I think is a point I’ve already reached in my life…
Larkin-Seider-Raymond Seal The Deal In OT
How amazing was it to have Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond assisting the Dylan Larkin game winning goal during the 3 on 3 overtime!? Raymond does the dirty work, digs the puck out, skates the distance and feeds Larkin who doesn’t miss.
With Florida coming to town to Hot N Ready Arena this week, and then the Wings back on the road for 2 games in Canada (without Bertuzzi), followed by games at Boston and Buffalo, getting all the points possible was so big. It’s a tough away stretch..
I can’t say enough about those two but the team as a whole are still so young. The Wings have twelve players that are 25 years old or younger, including the captain. Unreal. The future is bright.
Kyle Beach
I don’t have the words or could even come close to imagining what Kyle Beach has gone through over the past 11 years.
Listening to his interview with Rick Westhead, who has been so awesome with the Woodward/Bernstein level “Big J” journalism telling his story, I felt so uncomfortable, sickened and disheartened listening to his story, and learning more of the details surrounding the sexual assault. Having something so terrible happen to him, then reporting it to people at all levels; the team, NHLPA, et al and be dismissed, ignored and now trying to be discredited. All the points of failure along the way, letting him down.
Having nothing to do with a sport, he deserves better. People deserve to be treated better. His emotion and strength is inspiring.
Andrew Jenkins, who writes for Morning Stake, put out a fantastic piece this morning. Breaks down the full story and gives great insight. A definite “need to read.”
