Red Wings Storm Back In The Third, But Fall Short In OT Against Undefeated Panthers.

The Detroit Red Wings lose a close game at LCA in overtime against Florida on Friday night, 3-2. However, the Wings show grit in a hard fought third period. Holy hell, this team! (language)

The Panthers were up 2-1 in the third period, about 5 minutes left, and they had the momentum until this… (also don’t think I’ve heard the word “sequence” so many times in such a short time in my life…)
If this doesn’t get you excited, you have no pulse.

How can you not get behind this team!?

Shortly after, Pius Suter scores his first goal as a Red Wing, off a shot by Moritz Seider and ties the game at 2. Crowd somehow gets louder, an octopus landed on the ice and it was on.

The Wings get the huge point in this brutal stretch of games against some really good teams, next is two games against Canadian divisional opponents in Canada and then Boston and Buffalo on the road. If the last two games are any indication of things to come, the fans are all in.

Unfortunately, Aleksander Barkov scores in OT and wins it for Florida. You have to tip your hat… I guess. Beautiful goal. He’s good.

Lucas Raymond is good.

It’s a Red Wings blog so have to mention one of the young guys who are lighting up the ice for the team. Lucas Raymond, still on that top line with Larkin and Bertuzzi, here on the powerplay. Literally skating through every Panther on the ice, with the high quality scoring chance. Sergei Bobrovsky made a huge save. Again, tip your hat.

Ned had a solid game, made a couple of circus saves. Both the goalies in the game played well.

Love what I’m seeing from this year. The veteran players keep the bench calm and into the game. The younger players provide the spark and grit. It’s working. #Yzerplan

Also I could listen to John Tortorella talk about hockey all night… just saying. That’s normal, right?
