There are special moments which only happen in sports. Last night at Honda Center was one of those special moments for Ryan Getzlaf who scored his 1,000th NHL point. This win also marks the 1,000th win in Anaheim Ducks history.
Pretty fitting Getzlaf’s 1,000th point comes against the Washington Capitals who also have a 1,000 point scorer in Alex Ovechkin. Other active 1,000th point scorers include Joe Thorton, Patrick Kane, Sidney Crosby, and Anze Kopitar.
The win makes eight in a row for the Ducks and they lead the Pacific with 23 points through 17 games. Ryan Getzlaf also has 17 assists on the season which makes him 3rd in the league behind Connor McDavid (19) and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (18). Troy Terry extends his point streak to 15 games. Terry has 21 points in 16 games which is 4th in the league behind Leon Draisaitl (33) Connor McDavid (29) and Alex Ovechkin (26).
The second star of the game scoring two goals and the overtime game winner is Trevor Zegras. This kid is so filthy and if he continues to score these kinds of goals and play like he’s been playing the Ducks are going to be a scary team. Call me crazy but I think I’d rather have Trevor Zegras over Jack Hughes.
Talk about a stud! Ducks next game is Thursday when the Carolina Hurricanes come to California.
