Caps Lose to Chicago, Ovi ties for most Power-Play Goals

Stop me if you’ve heard this before the Washington Capitals have lost in overtime. Whelp you guessed it our beloved Caps lost again in OT Wednesday night against the Blackhawks 5-4.

Couple bright spots from last nights loss is the boys battled back to tie it right before the end of the 3rd period and we finally got to see Nicklas Backstrom back on the ice who fit in nicely and honestly didn’t look rusty at all in my opinion.

Also, even though he has broken our hearts over the years and played for those scumbags in Shittsburg if you were able to see the presentation they did for Marc-Andre Fleury getting his 500th win it was pretty awesome especially with how they involved his kids (definitely not crying in the club).

As for the game the Caps looked disinterested and slow in the first period whether it was soft penalties the Caps just couldn’t draw something up in the first especially with The Flower having the Caps number tonight.

Alex Ovechkin was able to beat MAF though from the feed of Backy, this goal tied him with Dave Andreychuk for the all-time most power play goals scored. It’s safe to say Ovi will shatter this record and most likely have this record for eternity or at least till his kids break it. Also it was so obvious how much smoother the PP looked with Backy apart of it. Ovi now has 46 points with 21 goals and 25 assists in 29 games.

Then came the disaster which was three goals in 34 seconds from Chicago, yeah you don’t even see that in beer league and we saw it last night in a NHL game (not ideal).

Daniel Sprong has been an extreme bright spot of late it almost seems like he is going to make a play every time he touches the puck and he was able to give the squad some life with a piss missile to wilt the Flower.

Lars Eller was able to tie it at 3-3 on a nice finesse type goal diving to the ice. The Tiger now has 5 goals and 5 assists in his last 11 games love that for him!

That grit I mentioned earlier came to head when the Caps pulled Sammy in a last ditch effort to tie the game in regulation. With this type of goal from Conor Sheary from the feed by Ovi with this type of momentum it felt like it was a done deal for the boys to finish the game in the 3v3 OT (I was wrong).

The Caps are right behind the red hot Rangers with a record of 17-5-7.

The Caps make their way up north to play Winnipeg, but with the recent Covid issues Canada are having could make things change.
