Everything was nearly perfect on Friday. Pete DeBoer was back behind the bench after battling covid. Vegas had over forty shots on goal and nearly got a shutout to shut out the year. It would have been Laurent Brossoit’s first shutout of the season but Ryan Getzlaf scored with less than 12 seconds left.
Vegas has been rolling despite the injuries and covid. The last loss came on December 21st against Tampa Bay. Mark Stone scored twice but that still wasn’t enough after he left the game early with an upper body injury that he is still dealing with today. The only other loss that month came against the Ducks on December 1st. Cooking duck on nye was a better result and VGK lead the series 2-1 with the finale coming in March.
Robin Lehner is still listed as day to day with a lower body injury and has not been practicing. Will Vegas turn to Laurent Brossoit again or give Logan Thompson a shot against the Jets? Kicking off the new year with another day game as Winnipeg comes to town… Are Canadian teams even allowed to leave Canada? Really hoping we can finish out the season and playoffs outside of a bubble.
