Jam Packed January for the Blues

The St. Louis Blues have played 11 games since the Winter Classic. Seven of those eleven games have been wins. Having only four losses in January is a pretty good place to be to kick off 2022. The Blues even retired Chris Pronger’s number and hung a banner in the rafters. It has to be a coincidence that the banner kings were in town. The Blues knocked off the Predators 5-3 in this game as Ville Husso had 32 saves.

Five games later, and the Blues end the month of January with a loss to the Winnipeg Jets. This was Ville Husso’s first time facing the Jets in his career. Ryan O’Reilly plays in his 900th career game and gets a gift from the zebras which leads to Paul Statsny’s second goal of the night.

The one bright spot for the Blues was the opening goal when Tarasenko scored on the powerplay. The Blues went on another powerplay at the beginning of the second when Blake Wheeler trips Colton Parayko. This was the turning point of the game because the Blues failed to score. David Perron had the only shot on goal during this powerplay.

The chances were there but the Blues seemed like they drew the short end of the stick. The second period is what killed the Blues with only two shots on goal, that is embarrassing. The Blues need to shoot more especially on the powerplay. Fifteen come from behind wins leads the NHL but they couldn’t get the job done against the Jets. The Blues have the next twelve days off and I can guarantee you Chief is gonna have them working on the powerplay. I will leave you with this beautiful video…Enjoy number 44 slam a bud light!
