We Had Some Heavyweight Tilts in the NHL This Week

The NHL kicked off this month and the boys were chomping at the bit ready to go. I don’t know what’s in the water right now but NHLers are hitting the eject button on their gloves at a much higher rate this year compared to last. The NHL had 9 fights this week and boy oh boy there were some good ones.

3 Stars of the Week

Jamie Oleksiak vs Kurtis MacDermid Oct 21, 2022

Ryan Reaves gets a lot of credit for being the heavyweight of the league but people forget that MacDermid gave him a loss on his record last season.

Kurtis MacDermid is easily one of the toughest heavyweights in the league and this fight is just another example of how and why. It cannot be easy grabbing on a beating some up who stands at 6’7. MacDermid is a name that isn’t brought up enough when talking about who holds the crown. Add this fight to his resume.

Zack Kassian vs Arber Xhekaj Oct 20, 2022

Welcome to the NHL, Wifi. This kid is a fucking rockstar. Not only did he put on a show but he put on a show at center ice in the Bell Centre against another tough guy in Zac Kassian. Xhekaj was aggressive, landed some punches early and then ultimately got to rag doll Kassian around the rink there for a bit. A lot of NHLers will be paying attention to Arber after this fight.

Nicolas Deslauriers vs Patrick Maroon Oct 18, 2022

The Flyers are back, baby. Deslauriers reminds me of one of those psychos from Peaky Blinders that’s just looking to rip your limbs off your body. He’s a well respected guy in the a league and one bad ass dude. Don’t believe me? Check out this video the Wild released last year.

Fuckin’ love that guy. Big W for Nic by order of the Peaky fookin Blinders.

I love hockey.
