Through three games the Blues are 3-0 for the 7th time in franchise history. For the third straight game the Blues have scored first. The penalty kill has been perfect as they have not allowed a single powerplay goal and pitched a shutout last game against the Oilers. This game in Edmonton is special for a number of different reasons. Jay Bouwmeester the Alberta native was in attendance watching his boys win another game on the road.
The night before the game Jake Neighbours was in the locker room with his old club from juniors reading the starting lineup.
The Blues went with 11 forwards and 7 defenseman because Pavel Buchnevich has missed back to back games with a lower body injury. Torey Krug scored a powerplay goal early in the first period to kick off the scoring.
The Oilers played the best in the second period but couldn’t buy a goal. My favorite play of the game comes in the third when Connor McDavid flies down the ice with the puck on his stick like a breakaway in lacrosse.
The Blues next game is tonight in Winnipeg and then back home on Wednesday for a rematch with the Oilers. Vladimir Tarasenko leads the team in points with six and Justin Faulk is your current goal leader with three. Don’t forget about that overtime winner in Seattle!
