Another day that goes by it seems our beautiful farm animal breaks or comes closer to breaking a record. Also I feel like I’ve written multiple blogs at this point that have the similar points regards the Gr8 One. That’s how lucky we have been as Cap’s fans to be able to witness this type of goal scoring greatest which we may never see again.

Last Monday October 24th Alex and the Caps beat the NJ Devils 6-3 and stop me if you’ve heard this before Ovi’s powerplay one timer from the left circle beat the Devil’s goalie to make the game 4-1 in the second period. The Devils were able to notch a couple of goals but that wasn’t enough.

Ovechkin’s goal was his 122nd game winning goal (GWG) of his career, which now passes the all-time great Gordie Howe for the second most GWGs in NHL history. Next on the list for Ovechkin is the mullet god himself Jaromir Jagr who stands at 135 GWGs which if Ovechkin wants to beat the All-Time goal scoring record he most likely will pass Jagr for his record as well.

Ovi’s goal was also his NHL record 287th career goal on the power-play, this only has him 19 goals away from passing Howe’s record of 801 for 2nd on the All-Time goal scoring list and also only 4 goals away from passing Howe for most goals with one franchise which he has 786. Just crazy to think he has been with us for all of this time.

We all know Ovechkin’s number 8 will be in the rafters as soon as he hangs up his skates, but it would be really cool if they put his number 8 under the ice somewhere maybe even specifically atop of the left face-off circles for obvious reasons.

The Caps lost to the Stars last night 0-2 and they are back in action against the Nashville Predators tomorrow.
