The Dallas Stars announced Tuesday morning the contract extension for top line Finnish phenom Roope Hintz. The deal is for eight years and worth $8.45 million annually. Hintz was the Stars 49th overall draft pick in the 2015 NHL entry draft and joins Jason Robertson on the top line for the forseeable future after Robo signed a four year contract as the offseason was in it’s final days.
Hintz has played in 261 career NHL games and in that time has ammased 194 points with 88 goals and 106 assists. Hintz is a career +33 and has solidified himself as part of one of the top lines in the NHL alongside the afformentioned Jason Robertson and ressurgent centerman Joe Pavelski. The trio dubbed “The Avengers Line” has throttled the Stars to one of their hottest starts in recent memory as the team sits atop the Central Division standings with 88 goals for.
Hintz remaining in the organization answers one of if not the biggest question heading into the upcoming offseason. Hintz was to wrap up a his most recent contract at the conclusion of the 22-23 NHL season. The Dallas Stars defeated the St Louis Blues on Monday night with a final score of 4-1 and look to continue their winning ways when the floundering Anaheim Ducks come to town on Thursday night to kick off a five game homestand.
