The Only Show in Town

The Blues visited the Jets for the only game of the night in the NHL. Jets on a three game losing streak while the Blues on a four game losing streak, one of these streaks will end before the All Star break. The last game for each team before February 11th. There is still plenty of time left in the season for a goalie fight!

Jordan Binnington looked sharp in the first period stopping all twelve shots he faced; six of those twelve shots were high scoring opportunities. The second period felt like it was all Jets until the Blues scored on the powerplay. Jake Neighbours scores on a breakaway off a Hail Mary pass from Torey Krug on a play that was started by Jordan Binnington.

The Blues scored early in the third to make it a 2-0 game and wouldn’t score again. The worst lead in hockey lost after three in a row from the Jets followed by the cherry on top also known as an empty netter. That puts the losing streak at five and two of those games against teams in the Connor Bedard race. Currently sitting below .500 and eight games out of the last wild card spot the Blues are looking for answers. With nearly two weeks off this will allow more time for Robert Thomas and Ryan O’Reilly to get healthy. Pavel Buchnevich had a minor ankle surgery and will hopefully come back shortly after the All Star break. Vladimir Tarasenko will be the only player on the Blues roster headed to South Florida for the festivities.
