A Final Goodbye from a Die Hard Coyote’s Fan

When hearing about the Coyote’s relocation news it hurt me because now I can’t see NHL hockey anymore or at least for a couple years, I had to reach out to some Yote’s fans and get their perspective on the matter and what you read below is from one of them.

Why I am upset and content with the move to SLC.  Everyone, including myself, is completely pissed off at the fact that we are losing our beloved Coyotes.  From 96 in a crap arena, to moving to a West location, which some (me included) was the start of the downfall, to the last 4 years of uncertainty.  So much more within the almost 30 years that you can break down, digest, and honestly say we should have lost this team years ago.  I look at past photos of me and my buddies at the first WhiteOut in Glendale and winning that game with a cheesy aluminum foil Stanley Cup, to my son learning to skate with Howler during the Little Howlers program and all I can say is thank you for the memories.

Thank you for allowing me to fall in love with the team, the players, the organization, and the Coyote way.  Even though you will be a new team, the players are still true Coyotes at heart, and know their hearts will always be in Phoenix and Arizona.  Thank you for allowing me to share games with my friends, family, and make new friends along the way.  Thank you for helping bring beer league hockey back to the valley for I made long-time friendships, as well as a couple of broken bones.

Whatever happens after April 17th, after the June auction, getting a new team/arena, remember the old Coyotes.  Remember the face Doan had when he got his first hat trick, when he scored in the playoffs, the hugs the Wizard and Doan had on the bench, the crazy Grandma’s curtains Nasher gave us during certain games, the Smith goalie goal, the terrible drive from east to west valley, and so many more things.  Thank you Coyotes for everything you have given me and the fans of this state.  Til we meet again…….
