The Caps headed up to the city of brotherly love Wednesday night for a matchup with a mediocre Flyers team.
Ryan Leonard got the boys on the board with what would be their only goal of the game via snipe on the power play.
Leonard’s 11 power-play points (3g, 8a) are tied for the fourth most among NHL rookies.
After taking the lead going into the 2nd it didn’t last to long, as Travis Konecny was left wide open for the snipe to beat LT to tie the game at 1.
After a lazy pass and attempt to grab said pass the Flyers jumped on the opportunity and the speedy Tippett and Zegras played a little tic tac toe then Zegras smoked it past LT for the 2-1 lead.
Then we headed to the 3rd where it was 4v4 after some lazy Caps defense the puck found a wide open Jamie Drsydale in between the circles who sniped it home past LT to make it 3-1.
The Flyers add another via the empty net fashion to make it a 4-1 final in Philly.
In a game in the metro that should have been a winnable game to give our slim playoff chances alive the boys didn’t want it more.
We did see the Caps debut of 6’1″ 200lb Timothy Liljegren on the defensive end who we got in the Carlson trade. He was the 17th overall pick by Toronto in the 2017 draft so made we can catch some lightening in a bottle like we did with Stromer.
Yeah crappy loss, but we should be the biggest fan of whoever plays Boston University this week! We need them to lose so we can see the debut of Cole Hutson in D.C.!
The Capitals are back in action tonight (Thursday) against a red hot Buffalo Sabres.
