The Philadelphia Flyers and the Importance of the Games Ahead

The Philadelphia Flyers have a week of important games ahead of them late in February. After the Flyers lost in overtime last week to the Toronto Maple Leafs as well as an abysmal loss to the New Jersey Devils in the MetLife Stadium Series game this past weekend, they now have to contend with both the Devils and the New York Islanders as both teams are closing in on the Flyers’ playoff spot. The Flyers were recently very close to eclipsing the New York Rangers for the number one spot in the Metropolitan Division after they passed the Carolina Hurricanes for the number two spot, but losing a few games has put them six points behind the Hurricanes and twelve points behind the Rangers. The three games this week will allow the Flyers to tie the Hurricanes should they rally from their two-game losing streak to beat the Chicago Blackhawks, the Rangers, and their old rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Flyers Past and the Bright Orange Future

Since Monday night, the Philadelphia Flyers have become the talk of the NHL-world. It all started with a trade made by the Flyers organization during the 1st period of the Flyers vs the Pittsburgh Penguins. Management had decided to trade one of their top prospects, Cutter Gauthier, to the Anaheim Ducks for defenseman Jamie Drysdale and a 2nd Round Pick in the 2025 Draft. Flyers fans were stunned and rendered temporarily speechless before the anger kicked in and outcry poured all over social media.
