As much as we wanted him to stay; Chytil has been sent down to the Hartford Wolfpack. Desjardins was released, and Adam Cracknell was claimed off waivers from the Dallas Stars.

In his limited game time of about 13 minutes of TOI Chytil did not impress the coaches of the Rangers; although all of us would of liked to get this kid more exposure before discussing other options it was clear the coaches had seen enough.
We need to be winning games; especially against teams like the Avalanche. AV and Ruff could tell the 21st overall pick wasn’t ready for the grueling schedule and physicality of a full NHL Season. Which is usually the case for most kids who are 18 years old. They see a spot for other roster players with experience to step up and fill the role, Chytil has exponential room for growth in the AHL and if he stays there maybe we could see him again this season.
Hopefully they gave Chytil the option to choose which team he wanted to play for this season; if so he most likely chose to stay in America to get used to the rink and fellow teammates.
The release of Desjardins is not unexpected at all , and I’m not even sure why they gave him a PTO. This guy is a bum, the only minutes Desjardins had he made a stupid decision and ended up with a suspension in the preseason. Good riddance.
Picking up Adam Cracknell is a bit of a mystery to me, but he can soak up some decent fourth line minutes while we wait the arrival of Jesper Fast. This almost certainly means that Miller will move back over to center with the departure of Chytil, & Desjardins.
Here’s Cracknell’s hat trick from March of 2017
We wish Chytil the best in the Wolfpack, and hopefully with Chytil’s development the Pack will rebound from their abysmal 2016-17 campaign. Which wont be hard what so ever considering they were the worst team in the AHL.
The Rangers look to secure their second straight win against St. Louis tonight at home. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM EST.
