LINK: The World Anti-Doping Agency executive committee handed down the most severe punishment to date in the years-long Russian doping saga, issuing a four-year ban that will bar Russia from competing at the next two Olympic Games.
The decision means Russia will have no formal presence at next year’s Summer Games or the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing and will be barred from most major international competition through 2023, including FIFA’s World Cup, the Youth Olympic Games, Paralympics, world championships and other major sporting events subject to World Anti-Doping Code.
Here we go again, Russia has been banned from the 2022 Winter games in Beijing. If you haven’t already, check out the documentary called Icarus on Netflix which really showcases what Russia did when they hosted the Olympics in Sochi and what hoops they had to jump through to cheat- some next level James Bond, KGB type shit. Now, where I have a problem with this is that they got around this by putting together a team called he Olympic Athlete from Russia (OAR). This team tea bagged all the other teams grouped with NCAA D1 / D3 players along with guys who have been in the 3rd German league for 12 years and went on to win gold. Now, my question is how is this any different from Russia winning gold? You think that Russians aren’t telling everyone that they won gold back in 2018? You think that the new red jersey you had them wear tarnished any sort of pride for winning gold? If you’re going to ban them, ban them. Don’t do this half ass “Oh they’re a part of OAR”, thats the name of a band and no they’re fucking not. It doesn’t matter much anyway because we won’t see NHLers participate which is some of the dumbest shit I’ve ever seen. It would be so much fun to see a line of Crosby – McDavid – MacKinnon and before you tell me “OH KED THEYRE ALL CENTERS THATD NEVER HAPPEN”, Canada has about 14679217538 A++++ players on their roster and I’m sure they’d figure it out. It’s a shame we might never see Ovechkin, Malkin, Crosby, etc ever play in the Plympics again. This is such a non story that got my blood pumping, I hate myself.
